Byrd Talks Pop Up Again

According to's T.R Sullivan, the Cubs have contacted the Rangers about a possible swap for outfielder Marlon Byrd. The trade could cost a fan favorite, Matt Murton. Sullivan cautions that these talks are only in there first stages. Byrd,30, recently avoided arbitration with the Rangers. The deal was only worth $1.8MM, and Byrd would hit free agency in '09.
The thing I do not like is that we would have to give up Murton. I am a fan of him and would like to see him develop some more and become a star. He is only 26.
